Celebrating Undas

In the Philippines, Undas (All Saints' and All Souls' Days) allows the living to remember, honor, and celebrate the departed. From October 31 to November 2, families will gather in cemeteries, sometimes turning them into lively spaces with food, card games, karaoke, and sometimes bonfires. Preparation starts a week ahead as families clean and repaint tombs. Many will return to their hometowns, making Undas a time for family reunions.
For those unable to visit, many will set up an alter at home which includes pictures, candles, flowers, and food for their departed loved ones.
