For all the Monster High and/or Designer Doll lovers, a new manananggal doll is flying into Mattel's Monster High Designer Series!

Hailing from Ce-boo, Corazon Marikit is a manananggal, so she *does* split in half like our plushie! The doll comes with a special stand that allows you to showcase her either as one, or flying away from her legs.
Corazon is wearing a modern terno (technically meaning a matching set, but also understood to be a Filipino dress style with flat butterfly sleeves). The fringe of her top references her ability to split, hinting at her entrails. [Note: not all stories of the manananggal describe her with hanging entrails; in fact, most of those descriptions are associated with the Kapampangan magkukutud and Bikolano anananggal.]
She is holding a pamaypay (fan). Her earrings are modeled after the puso (literally meaning heart - it is woven palm leaves that carry boiled rice). She's also wearing bakyas, a carved wooden sandal that was popular during the mid 20th century.
While we aren't Monster High doll collectors, we did buy one for our home to display next to the Filipino Barbie that came out last year.
